The New Orleans Saints look to be going full force towards signing Jadeveon Clowney, even looking to free up cap space for him.

According to sources, the Saints are talking to their current players and their agents to try to restructure some deals in order to create cap room to sign the seventh-year pro.

The #Saints have been talking to agents for players currently on the roster to see if they can restructure some deals in the coming days, sources say. The NFLPA currently has them at under $7m in cap space. So they’re working to create room in case they sign Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney was initially looking to make around $20 million in free agency, which then dropped to $17 million. He has refused offers in the $15 million range and has stood firm in his contract demands. His unwavering approach has forced multiple teams to withdraw their offers and move on to other options, including the Browns and the Seahawks, his former club. There has been no indication on what his current number is with the regular season only a week away, but the Saints trying to move money around to clear up space seems to indicate that they have faith he will sign with the organization.

Clowney has been one of the best pass rushers in the league over the past four years, making the Pro Bowl three straight years from 2016 to 2018. Last season, Clowney had a career high four forced fumbles, along with three sacks, two fumble recoveries and an interception, his first of his NFL career.
