Players around the league have made it clear that protests during the national anthem are an inevitability in the 2020 NFL season. Before that, New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins wants the league to own up to its blackballing of Colin Kaepernick.

As the co-founder of the Players Coalition, Malcolm Jenkins has never been shy about expressing his views on the NFL's shortcomings and is using his platform now more than ever. He said during an appearance on “CBS This Morning” that there are still reparations that must be made for Kaepernick by the league, via ESPN's Tim McManus:

“I still don't think [the NFL has] gotten it right. Until they apologize, specifically, to Colin Kaepernick, or assign him to a team, I don't think that they will end up on the right side of history,” Malcolm Jenkins said.

“At the end of the day, they've listened to their players, they've donated money, they've created an Inspire Change platform; they've tried to do things up to this point. But it's been one player in particular that they have ignored and not acknowledged, and that's Colin Kaepernick.”

Malcolm Jenkins made his point. A number of household names throughout the league have taken part in a video requesting the NFL to ramp up its efforts to address racial injustice and police reform. This ultimately spurred a response from Commissioner Roger Goodell also releasing a video condemning racism and the systematic oppression of black people on the league's behalf.

Regardless, the comments do little to restore Kaepernick's former status as a starting quarterback in the NFL. He has not played since the 2016 campaign when he became the first player to kneel during the national anthem in an effort to bring attention to social injustices that culminated with him settling a collusion case with the league in February of 2019.

Aside from Malcolm Jenkins, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is also among those that have voiced his support for Kaepernick getting an opportunity to sign with an NFL team.
