It appears as though New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas will be disciplined for an altercation with a teammate earlier in the week, forcing to him to sit out against the Los Angeles Chargers tomorrow (via ESPN's Adam Schefter).

Thomas was initially listed as questionable, leading many to believe he may suit up on Monday against the Chargers after nursing an ankle injury from Week 1. After recent news, he was listed as out, a move many chalked up to his ankle injury that may have not been ready ahead of Monday.

With this developing news, it appears that the Saints may have been trying to cover up the altercation by simply stating that his ailing ankle was still bothering the wideout.

The sitting of Thomas will more than likely only be a one-game situation, given that the Saints would rather have him back in action sooner than later to aid in the receiving game. Running back Alvin Kamara has been superior for the Saints so far in catching and rushing, but he could use the help in having another option for veteran quarterback Drew Brees.

Thomas saw minor action this season in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He completed three of five targeted catches for 17 yards. He's coming off a All-Pro season in which he tallied 1,725 receiving yards, his most of any season. He also completed 80.5 percent of his catches for nine touchdowns.

The Saints will continue to lean on Kamara to produce along with wideouts Tre'Quan Smith and Emmanuel Sanders.
