New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas did not practice for the second straight day on Thursday, and might be heading towards another inactive.

The All-Pro suffered a high-ankle sprain in a Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and there is a chance he misses Sunday night's game against the Green Bay Packers after missing Monday night's loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Thomas' ankle injury has been a confounding issue for the team. It was not regarded as anything overly serious after the Bucs game, but later reporting suggested Thomas could miss “multiple” weeks.

However, the Saints did not put Thomas on injured reserve–which would have sidelined him for at least three games–in part because Thomas himself hoped to suit up in Week 2.

Obviously, Thomas was not able to go against the Raiders, and his status looks shaky ahead of a marquee matchup with the Packers.

New Orleans' offense sputtered without Thomas on the field.

Drew Brees threw for 312 yards, but running back Alvin Kamara was the leading receiver. In fact, Kamara and Tre'Quan Smith accounted for the overwhelming majority of Brees' passing yards, soem of which came in garbage time on the final drive.

Thomas has been Brees' favorite target for the past four years. He has racked up over 100 receptions in each of the last three seasons, including a record-breaking 149 receptions in 2019.

The 27-year-old hoped to make his return by now, but it seems the ankle is giving Thomas more problems than anticipated. Brees and Co. might be without their star receiver again in Week 3.
