The New Orleans Saints will not have any virtual offseason workouts, instead being told to be ready for training camp in July, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN. The players were told by the team to take care of their families first and stay healthy.

This is just another example of teams trying to adapt to an offseason changed by the coronavirus pandemic. Some teams have already kicked off their offseason program with virtual workouts, while others like the Saints are approaching it differently.

New Washington Redskins coach Ron Rivera is using his knowledge from how they handled the 2011 lockout to point towards how to work this offseason:

“The biggest thing is to just be ready when the time comes to get back on the field with them,” Rivera told local media on April 7 via the Redskins team website. “If it's some time in late May or June or heck, not until training camp and whenever that is. I'm not overly concerned because I've gone through it.”

The Redskins are also not doing the virtual workouts but are still using the classroom time with the players. Players will be meeting with their positional coaches for two hours a day, four days a week.

Teams are allowed to meet with the players up to four hours a day, but how every team is approaching the situation is different.

The hope is that the coronavirus pandemic will be under control by late summer so training camp can start on time, and the NFL can complete a full regular season and postseason.
