Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal had an important message to the New Orleans Saints during an emotional team meeting. After Drew Brees' comments about the flag, there was clear friction between the team, and it turned out O'Neal was able to offer some words of wisdom on how the team should approach the situation.

O'Neal had been scheduled to be a guest on the team's Zoom call way before the controversy with the Saints.

For most of the team meeting, O'Neal just listened, but according to Peter King of NBC's Football Morning in America, he also delivered an important message to not let the media divide the Saints as a team:

“They’re going to try to divide you, just like they divided us with the Lakers! Me and Kobe [Bryant], we had a great thing going, but the media divided our team. We could have won five more championships! Stay strong. Don’t let the media divide you! Don’t let social media divide you!”

Those are interesting comments regarding Kobe, with Shaq blaming it on the media, but it makes sense that the media could drive that idea home when it comes to the Saints' situation.

Even though it appears with the latest comments by Brees that he is now on the same page as his Saints teammates, the media could still drive them apart.

Even if everything is good in the locker room, the questions are likely going to continue throughout the season about the relationship, which could put some doubt in some players' minds. Hopefully, there are no outside distractions.
