The New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams remained the two best teams in the NFC throughout the 2018-19 regular season.

As a result, it is absolutely no surprise that these two teams are currently facing off in the NFC Championship Game, with the Saints playing host to Sean McVay's Rams on Sunday afternoon.

Not only have these two NFC powerhouses kept an eye on one another in the standings all year long, but the tandem of highly-talented foes have already played once this season — a game that the Saints won by the score of 45-35.

With quite the build-up and continued animosity stirring, especially over the course of the last week or so, things got a little heated early on in the bayou.

During the second quarter of Sunday afternoon's affair, former New York Giants and current Saints cornerback Eli Apple could be seen jawing at Rams head coach Sean McVay along the sideline.

While it is typically McVay's defensive backs, namely Rams cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters, doing the trash talking, an early Saints lead perhaps led to this role reversal involving Apple.

Despite Apple jawing at McVay mid-game, the aforementioned Peters originally kicked off the festivities earlier in the week en route to calling out Saints head coach Sean Payton.

Even though it appears as though this is all in good fun with the competitive juices flowing on both ends, it certainly adds fuel to the fire for the coaches, players and fans alike.

The second half from New Orleans is sure to be an eventful one with the Saints now leading the Rams, 13-10, through the first two quarters.
