Now that the location of the 2017 All-Star game seems to be up in the air, teams are throwing their name in the hat to try and move the game to their city. With a record-breaking season and the defending champions now on their side, the Warriors have decided to join the fun in an attempt to move the game to Oracle Arena in Oakland.

According to Katie Marzullo of ABC 7 News, City Counsel member Rebecca Kaplan has a plan to bring the All-Star weekend back to San Francisco for the first time since 2000.

“73 wins, it's a beautiful time and it's a time to say we stand for justice and inclusion,” Kaplan said. “We do have those dates available so we'd love to have the All-Star game here.”

Whether the All-Star game should be moved became a hotly debated topic after North Carolina lawmakers passed a bill that has been attacked as being discriminatory against the LGBT community. Since the bills' passing, the state's lawmakers have been subject to vicious public scrutiny from all over the country.

Given the main reason for the outrage in North Carolina, Kaplan believes Oakland is the perfect place to move the weekend.

“An area with a long history of promoting diversity and inclusion with a large community of LGBT people, as well as people who stand up for justice and equality.”

Oakland residents echoed Kaplan's message.

“I implore NBA representatives and anybody who wants to know if Oakland is a city that's diverse to come to Oakland Pride on Sept. 11, because they will see, beyond a doubt, that we are the city they should be in,” said Oakland resident Amber Todd.

If the NBA does decide to move the game, it would certainly be a hit to the city of Charlotte, which estimates an economic impact of $100 million from the weekend's festivities.
