Baker Mayfield remains with the Cleveland Browns and with Deshaun Watson potentially facing suspensions, they may want to keep him. But, it's clear the disgruntled QB wants out of town. The Seattle Seahawks have emerged as a possible trade suitor in recent months.

The rumors began to swirl again on Sunday after Mayfield was seen at a Seattle brewery. That's a long way from his hometown of Austin, Texas.

The Seahawks currently have Geno Smith and Drew Lock battling it out for the QB1 spot. However, Pete Carroll recently said a couple of months back he'd be open to bringing in another signal-caller. Mayfield is undoubtedly better than both Smith and Lock. He could compete for the starting job right away.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic even pointed out recently that the Seahawks and Panthers are still very much in the mix for Mayfield:

“The Panthers and Seahawks still haven’t ruled out acquiring Mayfield, but they’ll need the Browns to take on a much greater portion of his contract than they’ve offered so far,” said Howe. “It’s unclear how far apart the sides have been, but the Browns want their contractual intake to be commensurate with the asset they receive in return.”

It seems like Mayfield's contract situation is the roadblock right now. Replacing Russell Wilson with Lock or Smith isn't exactly ideal. Baker is still a very good quarterback, it's just a matter of staying healthy and getting the opportunity to showcase his talents.

Whether his road trip to Seattle means anything or not, the Seahawks should definitely still try to pull this blockbuster off.
