Seattle Seahawks center Justin Britt injured his knee in his team's Week 8 matchup on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.

Britt exited the game and did not return, with Joey Hunt in at center. The injury could be a “major” one, per The News Tribune's Gregg Bell on Twitter.

UPDATE:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the injury is feared to be a season-ending one:

Britt is a six-year veteran for the Seahawks at center, having been drafted by the Washington state franchise in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman has competed and started in nearly every Seahawks game during his tenure. He missed one game during the 2016 season but other than that has started in front of franchise quarterback Russell Wilson in 87 career contests.

In Britt's place for the remainder of the Falcons game is Joey Hunt, a 25-year-old former sixth-round pick of the team in the 2016 draft. Hunt is a product of TCU; a center who has appeared in 25 games before today's insertion due to Britt's injury.

Barring the severity of Britt's knee injury, the Seahawks have been playing like one of the best teams in the NFC this season. Wilson is a legitimate MVP candidate and the defense has been feasting for most of the season. With Seattle taking care of business in Atlanta, the Seahawks will be back in the win column after bouncing the 1-6 Falcons and losing last week to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.

The future outlook could be bleaker, however, with Britt out in the long term. The center has been a foundational part of Wilson' offensive line, protecting the quarterback for years.
