Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny may have racked up 129 yards yards and a touchdown off of 14 carries during his team's win over the Philadelphia Eagles last week, but that does not mean Penny has supplanted Chris Carson as the starter.

“I mean, Chris is our guy,” Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer told reporters on Friday, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “We know that. He’s playing terrific football as well. But, like what happened last year some, each week, sometimes different guys step up. It happens that way in the passing game. Different receivers step up. Happened in the running game. Of course, we want to get Rashaad his touches, get him in the game. In terms of forcing it to happen, we’re not going to do that.”

In that same game, Carson carried the ball just six times for 26 yards.

But Seattle had been wanting to get Penny more chances all along:

“I thought that that plan was good for us,” Schottenheimer said. “He went out and capitalized on it. We knew the big play ability was there. We knew the speed was there. He had a great week of practice last week. It was good to get him into the flow of the game.”

On the season overall, Penny has rushed for 296 yards and a couple of scores while averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Carson has had a much higher volume of touches but has not been as efficient, totaling 879 yards and four touchdowns while registering 4.2 yards per attempt.

It should be pretty clear that in spite of Penny's big day in Week 12, Carson is the guy going forward, especially considering that Carson registered 1,151 yards and nine scores on the ground last year.

The Seahawks are 9-2 on the season.
