The Seattle Seahawks made a big impact on offense as a result of the team's second round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Seahawks notably selected former Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, who is slated to replace veteran wide out Doug Baldwin for head coach Pete Carroll.

Although the 2019 regular season remains a few weeks away, the fireworks appear ready to get underway sooner rather than later for Seattle. According to the aforementioned Carroll, Metcalf will play in the Seahawks' first preseason game against the Denver Broncos.

“He’s ready to go,” Carroll told reporters on Wednesday, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk.

Metcalf, who will now suit up as the Seahawks host the Broncos this week, was previously dealing with a lingering oblique injury that originally put his status for Thursday evening in question.

“Big, explosive talent with projectable upside to become a home-run threat as a WR1,” reads his 2019 NFL Draft profile of NFL.com. “Teams seek out pass-catchers with rare height, weight and speed dimensions and Metcalf has those for days. While he has the talent to become a full-field threat, Metcalf is still an unpolished gem who was the second-best receiver on his college team. Until his skill-set is more developed, he could begin his career as a hit-or-miss long-ball threat. However, once it clicks, defenses could struggle to find solutions for him.”

Of course, Metcalf will need to stand out in a hurry as the Seahawks will be competing with the surging Los Angeles Rams and up-and-coming San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West division this season.
