The Seattle Seahawks will be without veteran wide receiver Josh Gordon for the team's Week 16 matchup against the rival Los Angeles Rams, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. While Gordon was recently conditionally reinstated from his latest suspension, the NFL has revealed that he remains ineligible for regular season game action as it stands today.

Instead, Gordon is only allowed to attend team meetings and individual workouts as the troubled pass catcher attempts to make his way back into the fold for Seattle before the end of the 2020-21 campaign. It is also worth noting that Gordon can't even participate in full team practices let alone games, though the Seahawks would love to get him on the field sooner rather than later.

Luckily for both parties, though, Gordon is already familiar with the Seattle playbook as he has suited up for the Seahawks in the past.

However, the Seahawks won't be the only team that is shorthanded come Week 16 as the rival Rams will also be without a key piece of the puzzle on offense. It was recently revealed that Rams rookie running back Cam Akers would miss the upcoming NFC West showdown due to some lingering injury trouble. Prior to suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 15's loss to the previously winless New York Jets, Akers was on absolute fire, which really gave the surging Rams a major boost.

It now remains to be seen as to which NFC West franchise adapts better as both the Seahawks and Rams will need a well-rounded effort in order to come away with a pivotal victory in Week 16.

The Seahawks can win the NFC West with a victory. The Rams can take the lead in the NFC West with a win but not clinch the division. The Rams and Seahawks would be tied in the standings at 10-5, but the Rams would have the head-to-head tiebreaker and could then clinch in Week 17 with a win versus the Arizona Cardinals.
