The Seattle Seahawks exited the NFL playoffs unexpectedly early once again, and fans are fuming with the way they exited in frustrating fashion against the Green Bay Packers, 28-23. The disappointing display beget questions, and fans demanded answers from Pete Carroll.

One of the plays that drove many Seahawks fans insane was the punt the Seahawks made with less than three minutes left in the game. This decision effectively dashed their hopes of ever completing the comeback against a Green Bay team that did just enough to get past them.

Carroll's defense for his wildly unpopular belief: the odds were low against them.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:

“We were thinking about going for it in that sequence but not at fourth and 11,” coach Pete Carroll told reporters after the game. “We thought our odds were so low. We had all the clock, we had the time, we had all of the opportunities to stop them, to get the ball back. And so we didn’t want to put it all on one play.”

It was a terrible take then, and it's still a terrible take now. Even if the Seahawks failed to convert the fourth-down play, they would have had enough time to at least stop them in their tracks and complete a comeback with a fantastic drive from Russell Wilson. It seemed like he didn't trust his quarterback enough to complete the play.

There will be a lot more questions asked as the days go by. Carroll himself has some questions to ask, such as which players does he need to finally get the team back to the Super Bowl.
