Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson didn't skip a beat from last season and was at the forefront of the team's opening game victory. The Seahawks visited the Atlanta Falcons and stamped their dominance via a 38-25 winning effort.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll liked what he saw from his team and commended his quarterback's performance:

“What we've been doing in practice showed up,” he said. “Russ has been extraordinary all camp. He had a great summer throwing the ball to everybody and he had perhaps his best throwing day, numbers-wise, just about as you could have. He was in great command of the game.

The nine-year veteran threw a total of 322 passing yards and 4 touchdowns on 31 out of 35 attempted passes. He also had no interceptions which gave him a 143.1 passer rating. The opening game also saw Wilson surpass 30,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards, joining only Steve Young to reach both of those benchmarks.

Fourth-year running back Chris Carson was a key producer for the Seahawks as he scored two receiving touchdowns on 6 receptions with 45 receiving yards. Sophomore wide receiver DK Metcalf also made a highlight play by way of his lone touchdown on 4 receptions and 97 receiving yards. Newly-acquired safety Jamal Adams made his debut with the team and contributed 8 total tackles and 4 assisted tackles of his own.

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to do even better at home where they finished with a 7-1 record last season. The team's next game is slated on September 20 as they host the New England Patriots at CenturyLink Field.
