Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been firing on all cylinders so far this season, leading the team to a franchise-best 5-0 start and emerging as one of the early MVP candidates more than a quarter into the season. The people from EA Sports, the makers of the Madden NFL games, definitely took notice.

The 31-year old became the latest player to receive a 99 rating on Madden, the highest rating that a player can receive.

Wilson joins Los Angeles Rams defensive end Aaron Donald, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, and New England Patriots cornerback and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gillmore as the other members of the Madden 99 club.

No less than his Seahawks teammate and one of his frequent targets this season, wide receiver DK Metcalf, surprised Russell Wilson at his home to inform him about his inclusion in the exclusive club.

Through five games, Wilson has completed 123 of 169 of his passed for a 72.8% completion rate and has passed for 1,502 yards and 19 touchdowns with just three interceptions as the Seahawks remain just one of four unbeaten teams in the league, and the only team with five wins so far.

An NFL MVP may be the only missing award in Russell Wilson’s trophy case, which includes a Super Bowl, seven Pro Bowl appearances, a Second Team All-Pro selection, and a Rookie of the Year award.

Now, he rightfully gets recognized by Madden as one of the league’s best players, and players will likely be using Wilson and the Seahawks whenever they play the game and go up against their friends.
