Russell Wilson knows a great defensive player when he sees one. After all, he has been teammates with some of them, including the members of the Seahawks’ memorable Legion Of Boom defense that helped Seattle win two NFC championships and a Super Bowl victory.

After the Seahawks’ 38-25 Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons, the 31-year old quarterback reserved praise for another teammate in safety Jamal Adams, saying that he was impressed by what he brings to the team’s defense.

“Leadership! Energy! Focus! Discipline! Execution!” the Seahawks vet said of Jamal Adams, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “He can do it all. He’s a Hall of Fame, championship-caliber player.”

It’s hard not to be impressed by Adams’ debut for the Seahawks. Against the Falcons, the 24-year old had one sack, led the defense with 12 tackles, and added two quarterback hits and two tackles for loss.

Adams, a two-time Pro Bowler, was the Seattle’s big acquisition during the offseason to strengthen Ken Norton Jr.’s defence. He was acquired by the Seahawks from the New York Jets, who drafted him with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Seattle gave up safety Bradley McDougald, a first and third round pick in the 2021 Draft and a first round pick in the 2022 Draft to acquire Adams and a fourth round pick in 2022 Draft. So far, it looks like a solid investment for the Seahawks, as the safety made a strong first impression on his quarterback.

Seattle will look to see more from Adams when they face Cam Newton and the New England Patriots in their Week 2 match on Sunday.
