The Seattle Seahawks were rewarded Josh Gordon via waivers on Friday but he wasn't their first choice at the position. According to Adam Schefter, Seattle did their due diligence on Antonio Brown before placing a claim on Gordon.

Gordon had been released from the New England Patriots earlier in the week after they had placed him on injured reserve. The veteran receiver was dealing with a knee issue but felt like he could play in the coming weeks.

Thus, he asked for his release from the Patriots after his role on the team became reduced due to New England trading for Mohamed Sanu. After being released, Gordon was forced to go through the waiver process; where the Seahawks were the only team to submit a claim for him.

Before bringing Gordon in, Russell Wilson actually pushed for the organization to inquire about Brown. Of course, Brown remains in free agency while the NFL continues to investigate the sexual assault claims that were made against him.

Brown began the season with the Oakland Raiders before being released following a fallout with the front office. Following his short stint, Brown signed with the Patriots, where he played alongside Gordon for just one week.

Despite the allegations, Wilson and the Seahawks were interested in bringing in the troubled wideout. Instead, they chose to play it somewhat safer by taking a chance on Gordon.

While with the Patriots, Gordon had totaled 20 receptions for 287 yards and a touchdown. Nevertheless, it makes you wonder what could have been if Seattle was able to pair Brown with Wilson.
