It seems like the Houston Texans are close to a deal for Jadeveon Clowney. Tom Pelissero reports that the Seattle Seahawks are now the leading favorites to win the Clowney Sweepstakes:

Clowney met with the Dolphins this week and reportedly didn't have a great opinion of the franchise after that. And with Clowney still refusing to sign the franchise tag, the Texans are hard-forced to look into selling their star defensive end.

Both the Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles are considered Clowney's preferred destinations. Both parties were reportedly willing to trade assets with the Texans in order to get their man.

While many Eagles fans are hoping that Clowney will somehow end up with them, Pelissero's reports place the Seahawks in a considerable lead. With the way things are set up now, there's little to no way that he will not end up in Seattle.

There's a good reason why the two teams chased Clowney. He is one of the best rushers in the NFL with his 21 QB hits and 9.0 sacks in 2018. He also made three fumble recoveries, with one of those ending in a touchdown. He also finished with 47 tackles last season.

Clowney is effectively leveraging his power and the Texans are seemingly ready to give in to the former No. 1 pick's wishes to head to Seattle.

It may disappoint some Texans fans, but that is the business side of the game. They can only hope that they get a good package from the Seahawks in return for their star pass rusher.
