The NFL trade deadline is looming and the Seattle Seahawks could be looking to move one of the members of their backfield. According to Ian Rapoport, Seattle has fielded calls from teams that are interested in Rashaad Penny.

The Seahawks drafted Penny in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of San Diego State. In his rookie campaign, Penny was scarcely utilized as he rushed for just 419 yards on 85 carries and two touchdowns.

Seattle's offense is predicated on running the ball and Chris Carson is the main beneficiary at running back. Therefore, Penny has become an expendable piece in their offense ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

With him being just 23 years old, there is undoubtedly going to be teams interested in Penny's services. However, his production this season isn't helping his value.

The second-year running back has been given only 22 rushing attempts and he's turned that into 98 yards and a touchdown. His best game of the season came in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers when he garnered 62 yards on 10 carries and a score.

As we enter the latter part of the season, teams are searching for players that can improve their roster. The best way to do that is to scour the trade market—and Penny appears to be a target for multiple teams.

The Seahawks will face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday and Penny is expected to be active. With that being said, his role in Week 8 could show whether or not the team is willing to part ways with their former first-round pick.
