The Seattle Seahawks had a rough go of things in 2022, dealing with injuries to key players and ultimately falling well short of expectations. After running back Chris Carson was lost for the season due to a neck injury, the Seahawks brought aboard future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson to provide some depth out of the backfield. AP, who was previously with the Titans for a three-week stint, had been with the Seahawks since Week 13, but it looks as if his tenure with the team is winding down following an unfortunate injury. Per Ari Meirov, the Seahawks placed Peterson on Injured Reserve, effectively ending his season, due to a back injury.

Peterson's injury will force him to miss the Seahawks' final two games of the season, though he hadn't featured at all for the team since recording 11 carries in Week 13. Considering Peterson is 36, there's real reason to believe that he may have played his last downs in the NFL.

Peterson entered the 2021 season as a free agent but was scooped up by the Titans in the wake of Derrick Henry's injury. He played in three games for the Titans this season, recording 28 carries for 82 yards and one touchdown before getting waived by the team. Seattle sought his services out a couple of weeks later, but Peterson made just one appearance for the team before his untimely placement on IR.

Despite Seattle losing Carson for the year, the team ended up utilizing the likes of Rashaad Penny and Deejay Dallas over Peterson throughout the past few weeks, and now the injury to his back has seen his season, and possibly his career, come to an end.
