The Seattle Seahawks had to move on from one of their longest-tenured players on the roster. The Seahawks cut Doug Baldwin after he failed a physical, putting his NFL career in serious jeopardy.

This news came from the Seahawks directly, where they announced on their site that they terminated the contracts of both Kam Chancellor and Baldwin. Field Yates of ESPN also confirmed the Baldwin news on Twitter.

The Seahawks continue to see players who were crucial to their Super Bowl win in 2014 depart the team. The “Legion of Boom” is officially gone with Chancellor being cut.

Everyone knew that this was a possibility with Baldwin as he suffered a few injuries in 2018 and went through a couple of surgeries this offseason. Baldwin reportedly received surgeries for knee and shoulder injuries, along with surgery for a sports hernia.

It was going to be an uphill battle for the veteran wideout to play in 2019. But now we likely won't see Baldwin play another down in the NFL, let alone for the Seahawks.

Baldwin fit the role of a tough, possession receiver to perfection. For years, Baldwin was the best weapon for Russell Wilson and was one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL.

Drafting D.K. Metcalf should've given a hint to fans that Baldwin's career with the Seahawks was nearing its end. Metcalf will join an offense alongside Tyler Lockett and Jaron Brown.

It's sad to see someone who loved the game of football like Baldwin's career end the way it will. At least he's leaving fanbase that will forever be grateful and thankful for what he gave Seattle for nine years.
