Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced pre-game that backup point guard Shaun Livingston will sit out tonight's game against the Utah Jazz.

When asked by a pool of reporters if there was a reason why he was sitting this particular game, Kerr answered with a smile: “Because he's old.”

The Warriors have their heaviest week of the season, playing five games in seven nights, including a back-to-back set that concludes tonight against the Jazz, and another on the weekend involving the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves as part of a five-game road trip.

Kerr said the 31-year-old Livingston and 32-year-old sixth man Andre Iguodala were the two players the coaching staff monitored the most during the season. Ian Clark will get the bulk of the minutes at backup point guard in Livingston's absence.

Taking his place on the active roster is rookie center Damian Jones, who was recalled from the D-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors and is set to make his NBA debut tonight against, matching up against Rudy Gobert.

Jones' offensive game is still a work in progress, but he was a dominant rim protector in college, a skill which the coaching staff hope translates into the NBA, along with his 7-foot frame.
