Simone Biles is out of the last run of the finals in gymnastics a the Tokyo Olympics for what Team USA is calling a medical issue.

Editor’s note: This post was updated several times, including after the initial posting and breaking of the news. After it was only speculation that the talented athlete was pulling out over mental issues, an actual coach went on the record to state it was indeed  Simone Biles mental issues that resulted in her leaving. The update to the post is in the bottom of the page. While it is still a very much developing situation, we hope it adds some clarity to the happenings at the Tokyo Olympics.

“Simone Biles has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue. She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement.

Simone Biles Mental Issues?

Oddly enough, the NBC broadcasting crew took another direction with the matter, claiming it was a “mental” issue and not something that happened to her physically.

Obviously, this is a rather fluid situation.

People are obviously trying to figure out what happened with Biles at the Tokyo Olympics, even going as far as using insanely thin and short videos of her talking to her coach to speculate on the issue.

Since this story is developing, and we certainly do not want to play the guessing game on what happened with her, especially since Simone Biles has somehow found herself the target of media hatred from a certain section of people, we’ll just say that we’ll keep you posted as the story develops.

Update at 8:13 am eastern: Well, we have better evidence of this alleged Biles is out for “mental” issues. Per Al Butler:

“A Team USA coach said that Simone Biles’ exit from the gymnastics team event “is not injury related.” Coach said it is a “mental issue she is having,” per NBC broadcast.”

Nonetheless, let’s hope Simone Biles is good and she can return to her teammates at the Tokyo Olympics.
