Free agency in the NBA is unlike any other sport. Players don't just sit around and wait to hear who their team signs. Players often dive headfirst into the recruiting process. On Friday, Philadelphia 76ers' star Ben Simmons took a shot at recruiting the crowned jewel of the 2018 offseason — LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Simmons' pitch to James is actually quite simple. He posted a picture of James giving him a look with the caption of “KJ X FP” located just above the photo. Simmons is likely referencing King James and Fresh Prince. The two would make an interesting pairing in Philadelphia.

Simmons and James are not identical players by any stretch, but they are cut from the same mold. They are both tall, athletic point forwards who thrive with the ball in their hands. They are both extremely gifted passers that always seem to find the open teammate. If James were to sign with Philly, he could certainly be a valuable mentor for Simmons.

Simmons and James share another connection. They are both represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group.

Although Philadelphia is still viewed as a dark horse in the LeBron James sweepstakes, they would be an interesting destination for the 14-time All-Star. They have a young, talented core of players with some flexibility. Signing with the Sixers would also ensure that James remains in the weaker Eastern Conference.

A Sixers team with James, Simmons, and Joel Embiid would certainly be the odds-on favorite to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals.

It's still completely unclear what James plans to do, but Simmons is making his recruiting pitch and for James, there's a lot to like about Philly.
