That headline should be enough to draw everyone's attention. You don't even have to be a fan of LeBron James or Ben Simmons to get yourself to click. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Considering all the talent, it's just too interesting not to think about. The two are like systematically built to be imposing point-forwards. Both are big-bodied players with speed and athleticism, and they also happen to have great court vision – great enough to become effective point guards in the NBA.
Simmons, the Philadelphia 76ers' sensational rookie, shared his desire to team up with James, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar, in an interview with Olgun Uluc of Fox Sports Australia:
“I’d love to play with him… I think that’d be a lot of fun, just because we both have different games, and unique games. Whatever happens, happens, but whoever I’m playing against, I wanna go at.”
“Once I played him the first time, we went to Cleveland and I kind of had a feel for the game, and I wasn’t worried about that. The second game, the first few plays, I was kinda going at him. I kind of got my little revenge, but the next time I play him, it’s definitely gonna be a different story.
“He’s a competitor, he’s a great player. I have a lot of fun going up against him.”
How possible is the idea you may ask? Just remember that 1) one of the parties involved is LeBron James, which should tell you a lot, and 2) Simmons is represented by Rich Paul, who's also James' agent and longtime friend.
