Philadelphia 76ers big man Dwight Howard may be nearing the tail end of his career, but there's no denying that the eight-time All-Star can still produce some spectacular highlight plays. The Sixers center did just that on Saturday with an emphatic block on Danilo Gallinari of the Atlanta Hawks.

Howard rose up to swat away Gallinari's shot attempt which for a second there, looked like an open layup (h/t Yahoo Sports NBA on Twitter):

Dwight still has the hops. There was some initial doubt that he caught that ball on the way down, thereby warranting a goal-tending call, but you can clearly see on the replay that it was a clean block.

Howard joined the Sixers in the offseason with the team looking to provide some depth to their frontcourt. He may no longer be the dominant presence he once was, but Howard has been able to provide some quality minutes for Philly off the bench. In 60 games played thus far, the 35-year-old is averaging 6.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in 17.3 minutes of action.

It is worth noting that Dwight is currently on a one-year deal with the Sixers which will expire at the end of this season. Whether or not his future remains in Philadelphia remains to be seen.
