Throughout his career, the Philadelphia 76ers Jimmy Butler has played almost exclusively at the shooting guard or small forward position. Standing at 6'8 and boasting some impressive post up play meant Butler was perfect for these roles. On Tuesday night, he got a rare chance to play some point guard against the Los Angeles Lakers, and he looked great doing it.

Butler and Ben Simmons essentially swapped positions for the game. “Jimmy Buckets” became the primary ball handler and distributor, while Simmons took a back seat.

Per ESPN, Jimmy Butler greatly enjoyed his time at the point, saying:

“It felt good. It's a different look. We've got so many guys that do so many things well that it allows us to get to the basket more.”

Butler's teammate Joel Embiid was also enthusiastic about the lineup change, claiming Butler played an excellent PG:

“I think Jimmy did an amazing job getting everyone open. We still need to work on stuff to get better, but it was an amazing start.”

The former Timberwolves player had an excellent all-around game, scoring 20 points as well as recording five rebounds, six assists, and five steals. He ended the game a whopping +27 in plus/minus, reflecting just how much of an impact he had on the game.

While this is probably not a permanent line up change for the Sixers, its good for the team to see they have such high roster flexibility and can switch with ease while still playing effective ball.
