Arthur Elijah De Paula Embiid 👶 We are so blessed and fortunate to welcome our little boy in this family. First of 11 or more? Trying to convince her but I’m not winning so far. I’m just trying to build a soccer team but for real I’m so excited for the future and my life has a new meaning. Kudos to @annedepaula_ for being so strong and giving me the Greatest Gift our life can offer #GodisGood
Joel Embiid had a brother named Arthur, who was tragically killed in a car accident six years ago. Arthur was 13 at the time. The Sixers center is naming his son after his late brother, which is a beautiful gesture.
This is wonderful news for Embiid. 2020 has been a crazy year due to COVID-19, so it’s nice to see some good news from time to time.
Joel Embiid, the best player on the Sixers, averaged 23.0 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in 2019-20. However, Philadelphia got swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World. The Sixers were playing without All-Star Ben Simmons, who was out due to knee surgery.
After the Sixers came back to Philadelphia from Orlando, Florida, the team fired head coach Brett Brown. Thus far, the franchise has been linked to Tyronn Lue and Mike D’Antoni, but it’s unknown at this time who the organization is going to hire.
Since entering the NBA, Embiid has compiled averages of 23.9 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He’s been a monster after missing the first two years of his NBA career due to his foot injury.
