With the Philadelphia 76ers gunning to make a deep playoff run this season, their superstar center Joel Embiid has already been taking games off for load management.

The team figured in a razor-close 98-97 home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday and is scheduled for a quick turnaround against the Orlando Magic tomorrow. Embiid finished with game-highs of 27 points and 16 rebounds – helping his team bounce back from an ugly three-game losing skid last week.

Embiid, who has already dealt with an ankle sprain to start the season, has avoided back-to-back games and remains uncommitted on whether or not he will suit up on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Cameroonian center has already missed three games this season, with the Sixers going 2-1 in that stretch.

Embiid has been averaging his usual stellar numbers in seven games played, notching 23 points on 46.4 percent shooting from the field and 38.5from three, to go along with 12.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.7 blocks in close to 29 minutes per game.

The Sixers have been cautious with Embiid after he missed two full seasons to begin his NBA career in 2014-15 and 2015-16 due to foot injuries.

Despite playing in just 31 games in his rookie season in 2016-17, the Kansas product has been as good as advertised and became the savior of the once disenchanted franchise.

He has never made it through an 82-game season, playing 63 games in 2017-18 and 64 games the following year. Apart from Embiid, Los Angeles Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard has also been sitting out games this season due to load management concerns.
