Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are watching closely as Kevin Durant requests a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Embiid, ever the agitator, had just three letters to respond to the news of one of the Sixers' biggest rivals unraveling.

In the midst of Kyrie Irving's uncertain future in Brooklyn, Durant is taking matters into his own hands and asking out. The Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat are at the top of his wish list. It will be a very tough trade market, as Durant is still one of the very best players in the league. The Sixers, though, can give him the chance to win and help him stay close to the Philadelphia Union, the MLS team that he partly owns.

Philadelphia is reportedly willing to trade anyone aside from Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey to improve the team. They will probably have to include Maxey to land Durant but it would most likely be worth it. Even with his injury concerns, Durant would be a near-perfect addition to the Sixers.

Durant averaged 29.9 points and a career-high 6.4 assists per game in 55 contests last season. Pairing one of the most unstoppable scorers with Embiid would make the Sixers instant title favorites. He and Embiid would be a fantastic duo. It remains to be seen, though, where the Nets are willing to trade him.

Embiid tweeted years ago that he planned to recruit Durant to the Sixers. Now, he has a prime chance to do so.
