According to Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Landry Shamet has signed his rookie deal with the Sixers. Shamet was taken by the Sixers with the 26th overall pick in the draft.

The first-round selection was the second of two first rounders Philadelphia has recently signed. Zhaire Smith signed his rookie contract on Monday.

In regards to minicamp prior to summer league starting up, Shamet told Levick:

“Little beat up,” Shamet said. “Obviously, that was expected. It’s a physical game. But overall I feel really good, excited. [Wednesday] was probably our best practice yet, guys looked really good. We’re starting to click and gel and get to know each other really well. Overall, learned a lot and just excited to get out to Vegas.”

Shamet will see his first action in a Sixers uniform on Friday, July 6 in Las Vegas against the Boston Celtics. The combo guard should be able to bring some added depth to an already strong Sixers backcourt.

Shamet is considered a combo guard and a cerebral player. Shamet played his college ball at Wichita State. During his third and final season, Shamet averaged 14.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game for the Shockers.

He can shoot the ball well from the outside and facilitate an offense. He should be a nice fit alongside Ben Simmons' dynamic playmaking ability. So long as he can knock down shots at the NBA level, he should be able to carve out playing time, even as a rookie.

Landry Shamet's future with the Sixers is secure, but now the real work begins.
