Not much was expected of Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz in his first game back from a prolonged absence to fully heal from a shoulder injury, but the rookie took it upon himself to do well against the Denver Nuggets Monday night. Fultz probably just did not realize immediately following the game that in just 14 minutes on the floor, he was able to join an exclusive record club in the NBA.

According to the Twitter account of NBA.com/Stats, Fultz joined Kevin Porter of the Washington Bullets as the only two players in NBA history since the introduction of the shot clock to net at least 10 points and eight assists in only 15 minutes or fewer of action on the floor.

Fultz (10 points, 8 assists in 14:24) is just the second player in the shot-clock era to finish a game with 10+pts/8+ast with fewer than 15 minutes played. Kevin Porter needed just 12 minutes to total 10 points and 8 assists for the Bullets on Feb. 17, 1980.

For the record, Markelle Fultz scored 10 points and dished out eight assists to help the Sixers score a dominant 123-104 win over the Nuggets at home. It was Philadelphia’s seventh win in a row and 11th in their last 14 outings.

Markelle Fultz missed 68 games prior to the Denver game in order for him to deal with a shoulder issue that had also caused him to alter his shooting mechanics. His jumper is still not as smooth as it was when he was playing for the Washington Huskies in college, but it’s definitely better than when he was nursing the injury. Fultz’s stat line against the Nuggets also shows that the Sixers are only going to get better with him back in the lineup.
