The Philadelphia 76ers have built a fierce rivalry with Atlantic Division foe Boston Celtics, stemming from multiple postseason matchups and even signing then–free-agent veteran big man Al Horford last summer away from the Bean Town franchise. Now Sixers general manager Elton Brand is admitting to spending the COVID-19 pandemic-borne NBA hiatus anticipating a playoff matchup with the Celtics for the umpteenth time.

Per Keith Pompey in the Philadelphia Inquirer:

“We are talking about the Celtics as if that could be an opponent,” said general manager Elton Brand, whose team would face Boston in an opening-round series based on the teams’ seeds if the postseason began Wednesday. “Brett [Brown] and his staff have also prepared for other teams in case there is a regular season and the [seeds] change. But we’ve done a deep dive.
