With the NBA trade deadline approaching, the Philadelphia 76ers have been resistant to trading second-year combo guard Markelle Fultz, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

Markelle Fultz has been out since November, as the former No. 1 overall pick is rehabbing from Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, an ailment which affects nerves between the neck and shoulder resulting in abnormal functional movement and range of motion.

Fultz has played in 19 games this season. He's averaging 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per contest while shooting 41.9 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 56.8 percent from the free-throw line

It looks like the Sixers are still holding out hope that Markelle Fultz can still be an impact player for them once he is cleared to play basketball. Fultz likely has zero trade value around the league as well, so Philly might as well keep him instead of giving him away for nothing.

The Sixers are 33-18 on the season, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Fultz, who was in Los Angeles rehabbing the injury for a while, is back with the team and has been on the bench during games. There were rumors that the Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns had interest in Markelle Fultz, but it remains to be seen if those teams are willing to take a risk on the 20-year-old.
