Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris has given himself a pat on the back for offering some advice for Drew Brees about not apologizing for the controversial comments recently made by the New Orleans Saints quarterback. Brees did not heed Harris’ plea, though, and did the exact opposite, and it may have just made the situation worse.

Here’s Harris commending himself for giving the right advice to Brees, which the embattled quarterback chose to ignore:

After earlier stating that he will “never agree” with anyone who disrespects the United States flag (in reference to Colin Kaepernick’s symbolic kneel during national anthems), Brees took a lot of flak from practically everywhere, including teammates. This promoted an apology from the 41-year-old NFL star, which was predictably not accepted very well by more than a few folks.

Brees’ earlier statement caused quite a ruckus — and understandably so. These are the type of things you can never take back and will live with you for the rest of your life. Unfortunately for Brees, this seems to be the exact case for him moving forward, and no amount of apologies — regardless of their level of sincerity — will be able to make things right.

This was exactly what Tobias Harris had in mind when he sent out that earlier tweet, especially because he figured the apology would not suffice no matter what. As it seems, the Sixers star is not exactly in a reconciling mood, and he has brushed off Brees’ futile attempt to salvage his reputation.
