On Sunday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers improved to 8-1 on the young 2023-24 season with a 137-126 home victory over the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers trailed by only one point entering the fourth quarter of this contest but were ultimately powerless to stop Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey, who poured in a career-high of 50 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists in the victory.

After the scoring explosion, some users on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, were quick to speculate that Maxey may be in for multiple accolades this season, including a potential NBA All-Star selection as well as consideration for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.

Some fans asserted that Tyrese Maxey is more deserving of an All-Star nod this season than former Sixers teammate James Harden, who was recently traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Others noted that, while Maxey was already an established starting caliber player in the league, that still shouldn't take away just how much he seems to have improved for this season.

The Sixers were expected to take a dip following the trade of James Harden in return for a collection of role players and draft picks. However, the team hasn't lost since opening night and currently sits atop the Eastern Conference at 8-1. As Sixers fans are well aware, winning regular season games has never been the problem for Philadelphia over the last few seasons; however, with Maxey playing at this level, it seems that anything might be possible for the Sixers going forward this year.
