Bryan Colangelo was let go by the Philadelphia 76ers last week, but that doesn't mean that the team isn't going to have to live with the decisions that he made. Last summer, Colangelo and the Sixers traded up to the top spot in the 2017 NBA Draft to select Markelle Fultz. In return, they gave up the third pick to the Boston Celtics along with a future first-round pick. With the pick, the Celtics took Jayson Tatum, who looks like he is going to be an absolute star in this league.

According to the Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, some members of the front office tried to get Colangelo to take a second look at Tatum or Lonzo Ball, but he wouldn't.

“After Fultz struggled in his workout with the Sixers last June, league sources say some Sixers front-office members suggested that despite making the trade, the team should have taken a second look at Tatum or Lonzo Ball. But the idea was shot down by Colangelo, according to sources. Fultz was the choice. There was no turning back.”

Now, that's not to say that Fultz can't turn it around and become a star in the league, but the combination of his struggles as well as Tatum's dominance throughout the season and NBA playoffs, it sure looks like they missed a gem on this one. If Fultz can get his shooting confidence back, however, who knows which player will be better five or 10 years down the line?
