The Philadelphia 76ers are once again entering an offseason with more questions than answers. The team, as currently constructed, doesn't appear to be built for a championship.

Sixers GM Daryl Morey isn't known to be the type to sit on his hands once the transaction period rolls around. With the NBA offseason less than a month away, there are already rumblings of Morey's desire to hunt for more stars, as has been is calling card.

Via Sixers reporter Kyle Neubeck of the PhillyVoice:

Already this offseason, we've heard some “star hunting” type rumors regarding the Sixers, and I'm not here to tell you that they're out of the star business in general. Morey thinks their path to contention rests on acquiring another big-name guy, he will figure out whatever needs to be done in order to get that guy in the building.

In order to net stars, he'll need to send assets back in return. Save for Joel Embiid, the Sixers' biggest asset is incoming third-year guard Tyrese Maxey. But based on the same report, it looks like he's being held off any negotiations.

Is he going to use Tyrese Maxey to make that happen? The signs point to no.

“Maxey is as close to untouchable as you could be,” a source told PhillyVoice over the weekend.

With Tyrese Maxey supposedly off the table, the Sixers may have a tough time drawing interest for any big-name stars. But Daryl Morey is one of the most ruthless negotiators out there. Perhaps he can work his magic one more time.
