During their Saturday matchup at home against the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers second-year point-forward Ben Simmons got called for a technical foul after the Sixers star took a seat in the courtside row.

Yes, you read that right.

Ben Simmons was guarding Raptors All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry, someone whom he really doesn't have a lot of love for. Simmons got called for a foul, one he didn't agree to. The reigning Rookie of the Year then walked away in shock and sat down on an empty courtside seat.

The referee didn't appreciate Ben Simmons' action and slapped a technical foul on the Sixers point-forward.

Out of all the ways to get a technical foul, this is a new, unique one. Luckily for Ben Simmons and the Sixers, Philly has a big lead on the Raptors, so they can afford to be in a jolly mood.

However, this is pretty crazy. The referee had to be in his feelings on this one. Simmons didn't scream any vulgar language at him and just took a seat next to a fan to catch his breath for a moment and ponder how he was called for a ticky-tack foul. It seems that the refs this year have been blowing the whistle and calling technical fouls more frequently this season.
