The Chicago Sky are preparing to take on their first Washington Mystics matchup of the 2024 WNBA season. The team traveled to D.C. on Wednesday for the following day's matchup; however, they were hit with unexpected visitors. Chicago forwards Angel Reese and Isabelle Harrison detailed an alleged harassment the team faced upon arrival at their hotel.

Reese revealed that someone with a camera approached a Sky player too close as the team stepped off their bus to go into their hotel.

“Finding out our team's hotel to pull [up] with a camera as we get off the bus and put it in my teammate's face & HARRASS her is NASTY WORK. This is outta control and needs to stop,” Angel Reese posted on X.

Isabelle Harrison supported Reese's claims with her account of what happened.

“WOW!!! Thank GOD for security. My teammate being harassed at our hotel at our hotel is insane! Couldn't even step off the bus!” Harrison said on X.

It is unclear which teammate faced the harassment and the exact circumstances that led to the altercation. Thankfully, the Sky remained safe and were able to access their hotel without any more problems.

Several users on social media, including Angel Reese and Isabelle Harrison, highlighted the importance of security for players. It is great that fans are excited to see their favorite players, but there is a boundary that should not be crossed. Thus, having adequate protection is important for player safety.

Chicago will not let the altercation deter their focus as they prepare to take on a hungry Mystics team.

Sky must stay on their toes against the Mystics

Things have not gone Washington's way early on. The Mystics enter their game against Chicago with a 0-9 record. They look to snap their cold streak and get their first win of the season against the Sky at Entertainment & Sports Arena on Thursday night.

Washington is led by seventh-year guard Ariel Atkins, who averages 13.2 points and 1.9 steals per game. Atkins will want to use her two-way abilities to compete with Sky guards Marina Mabrey and Dana Evans.

Mabrey leads Chicago's scoring and playmaking efforts with 16.8 points and 4.8 assists per contest. Dana Evans is just as lethal. The Louisville product averages 11.4 points, 1.6 steals, and shoots an impressive 100 percent on free throws through the first part of the season.

One of the most intriguing rookie matchups of the game will be between Angel Reese and Aaliyah Edwards. Washington decided to select Edwards with the sixth overall pick in the draft, just one spot ahead of Reese. Edwards nearly helped the Connecticut Huskies to the 2024 NCAA Tournament final, but her team came up short against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Edwards holds averages of 7.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Angel Reese is putting up 10.9 points and an impressive 9.0 rebounds per contest. Reese leads all rookies in rebounds and hopes to impose her will in the paint alongside Elizabeth Williams and Kamilla Cardoso.

Can the Sky keep the Mystics at bay despite the unexpected challenge from their travel trek?
