Liverpool fought hard but came up one point short in their chase for a Premier League title. Manchester City's electric comeback against Aston Villa saw the Citizens maintain its grip on the top spot in the league table, beating out Liverpool 93 points to 92. While Liverpool can still take home a Champions League trophy, Jurgen Klopp and Co. will surely be disappointed not to be crowned Premier League champions, especially after a superb second half of the season.

Once their season officially winds down, Liverpool will be back at the drawing board hoping to plot out some moves for the summer that will help them overtake Manchester City and win the Premier League in 2022-23. With City already splurging on the signing of Erling Haaland, overtaking them will prove even more difficult for Liverpool. Still, the club will be eager to add some reinforcements and make improvements wherever possible in order to challenge for the title next season.

With all that in mind, here are three moves Liverpool should make this summer to win the Premier League in 2022-23.

3 moves Liverpool must make this summer to win Premier League next season

3. Antony, Ajax

While Liverpool is deep at the wing positions, the possible departure of Sadio Mane this offseason could see them look to bring more star talent. The club has been linked to Ajax starlet Antony, who enjoyed a sensational season in Holland's top flight in 2021-22. At just 21 years old, Antony could develop behind the likes of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz until he's ready to take over a role in the Starting XI. In 23 Eredevisie matches for Ajax this season, Antony scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists. He added 2 goals and 5 assists in 7 Champions League appearances, showcasing his ability to compete at the highest level. The Brazilian would be an excellent addition to Klopp's ranks at Liverpool, and they'd be competing against some other rivals in England who are keen on bringing him to the Premier League.

2. Jude Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund

Jude Bellingham has continued to improve since making the move from Birmingham to Borussia Dortmund. He is emerging as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the world, and could be ready to return to the Premier League with Liverpool. He fits the bill of the type of player Liverpool should be targeting to beef up its midfield this summer, and at just 18 years old, soon to be 19, Bellingham is one of the most intriguing young talents in the entire world. Liverpool would feel no need to rush him into the Starting XI, though he could easily work his way into the mix before long, and he'd be playing alongside some of the most esteemed goalscorers in the world, while having a rock-solid defense behind him. It's a match made in heaven between one of England's most sensational young talents and one of the best clubs in the country.

1. Aurelien Tchouameni, AS Monaco

Much like Bellingham, Tchouameni could be an immediate boost to Liverpool's midfield. The young French star has emerged as one of the best young players in football this season, and likely won't last at AS Monaco beyond the summer. Liverpool has been heavily linked to the 22-year-old, who has become a star right before our eyes this year. While his counting stats aren't impressive, registering 3 goals and 2 assists in 35 games, his role in the midfield doesn't produce numbers that show up on the stat sheets. He'll be tasked with winning the ball in midfield and linking up play to the attacking third, while tirelessly pressuring opponents. Tchouameni would be an excellent signing that would position Liverpool for both immediate and long-term success.
