A Chelsea legend has returned to the club. John Terry, who was recently an assistant at Aston Villa, has accepted a new job with the Blues in a coaching consultant role with the Academy, starting on a part-time basis next month:

Terry is one of the greatest center-backs to ever wear the Chelsea shirt, spending 19 seasons with the Premier League giants. He also scored 41 goals in 492 EPL appearances and was one of the most physical defenders around who possessed a special ability in the air. In total, he featured 717 times for the Blues and made over 500 apps as captain. In the process, the Englishman captured 17 titles, including three in the Premier League and a Champions League triumph in 2012.

After finishing up his career with the Blues in 2017, Terry moved on to Villa for a lone season before hanging up the boots. He spent just under three years with the Lions under Dean Smith, who was sacked earlier this season in favor of Steven Gerrard.

Essentially, Terry will work with Chelsea academy players and coaches and help with their development. Given his experience at the highest level both on and off the pitch, this should be a tremendous addition for the Blues and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him eventually move into another role with the first team.
