Denmark and Inter Milan star Christian Eriksen faces an uncertain future in Italy following his scary collapse at Euro 2020 in June.
The former Tottenham midfielder hit the ground face-first and essentially had to be resuscitated with a defibrillator because his heart stopped working. Seeing a player suffer a cardiac arrest on the pitch was absolutely frightening, but he ultimately ended up being okay and is well on the road to recovery.
However, it remains to be seen if Christian Eriksen can play in Italy again. The rules in Serie A state that you can't play with a pacemaker, which the Dane had fitted after the incident. Per AP News, Eriksen isn't expected to return to the pitch for six months and at that point, it's still unknown if he'll be able to play for Inter.
Article Continues BelowThe cause of the incident has yet to be determined and that's also expected to play its part in the league's decision to allow him to suit up for the Serie A champions again. Obviously, after a life-threatening scare, Christian Eriksen must be careful about returning to action.
If Italy does deem him unable to feature, Eriksen could make a return to the Premier League or go play in the Netherlands, where the health rules are different. But for now, he'll be focused on fully recovering and getting match fit.
