Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland remains sidelined due to his hip injury. He's unlikely to return to action for the rest of the year according to his father.

The 21-year old star has been dealing with a serious hip injury since mid-October. Haaland has missed 4 matches thus far, and seems to be missing out on quite a few more matches—including an important league tie against Bayern Munich on December 4 and their final 2 UEFA Champions League group stage matches against Sporting CP and Besiktas.

His father had revealed that the best-case scenario would be for Erling to return to action mid-December or before Christmas, but he confirms it seems rather unlikely.

“He's doing relatively well considering the situation, but he'll be out for a little while,” Alf-Inge told TV 2 Norway of his son's injury. “It would be a bonus if he gets some games before Christmas, but it's rather unlikely.”

Since his absence, Dortmund has faired pretty well without their talisman. They've won 4 out of their last 5 matches and remain in title contention only 1 point behind Bayern Munich.

However, their recent form doesn't mean that the German giants would not love for their star striker to return. Dortmund will be hopeful they can keep up their string of performances with hopes of grabbing the title away from Bayern as well as booking a spot in the Champions League knockout stages.
