As the winter transfer window is mere days away from opening, Arsenal is now reportedly eyeing a move for one notable Brazilian talent.

As noted by Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has asked club officials to push to sign Coutinho.

Coutinho has been the subject of a multitude of transfer rumors over the past couple of months. In the recent summer transfer window, Barca club officials sought a suitor for the Brazilian talent and were open to paying 50 percent of his €9 million due salary for this season. Of course, Coutinho stayed put with Barca, as the club was not able to find a side that had an interest in agreeing to such a deal.

Furthermore, one recent report noted that Barca well has an aim on offloading Coutinho in the coming month, as club officials are looking to shore up funds wherever possible.

Almeida further added that the one-time Copa America winner is well expected to leave the Catalan side in the winter window, although it remains to be seen whether a return to the Premier League to join Arsenal may be a move that could come to fruition in the coming weeks.

Coutinho made his long-awaited return to in-game action in August after he had been sidelined since last December due to a knee injury. He was a regular under now-former Barca manager Ronald Koeman, which included appearances against the likes of Real Madrid and Valencia in La Liga play. Under new Barca boss Xavi Hernandez, he has played in four of six possible league matches.

Coutinho still has one more full season remaining on his current contract deal with Barca.
