Cristiano Ronaldo has heavyweight boxing superstar Anthony Joshua enamored with his decision to return to Manchester United at this stage of his career.

Soccer isn’t the only sport rocked by Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning Manchester United comeback. In fact, even two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua was raving about his move.

According to Joshua, becoming the face of Manchester United once again is “a tough ask” but Ronaldo pulled off a “fascinating” story overall.

“Joining [Manchester] United is a tough ask, it’s a lot of pressure that he’s going to be under,” Joshua told Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand in a talk for William Hill via The Mirror. “I’ve got to give him credit for that.”

“This is fascinating,” he added. “What it tells me is when you face that adversity, you’ve given yourself every advantage whether that’s a chef or a masseuse to pull yourself out at the last minute.”

On Saturday, Ronaldo finally made his long-awaited return to Manchester United official by playing against Newcastle United.

As expected, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner delivered and scored a brace as the Red Devils thumped Newcastle 4-1 at Old Trafford.

It was Manchester United midifielder Bruno Fernandes who netted the goal of the game, but unsurprisingly, the spotlight was on his compatriot Ronaldo who vowed to dedicate his return to his teammates and loyal supporters.

“Along with all my teammates and with the amazing support that we always get from the stands, we face the road ahead with confidence and optimism that we’ll all be celebrating together in the end,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
