The United States and Mexico are set to face off in a pivotal CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying match Thursday night, with both sides hoping to better position themselves to clinch a berth to Qatar. As it stands, Mexico and the USMNT are knotted up at 21 points through their first 11 qualifying matchups, though the Americans hold the advantage in goal differential.
Mexico enters this game having not lost in its last four matches. Most recently, Mexico defeated Panama 1-0 on Feb. 2, after tying in a scoreless draw with Costa Rica in late January. Their most recent losses came against Canada and the United States on Nov. 12 and Nov. 16, respectively.
The USMNT have won three of their last four games heading into Thursday's showdown. They're coming off a 3-0 win against Honduras in their previous outing, during which Weston McKennie, Walker Zimmerman, and Christian Pulisic found the net.
Both sides will be eager to pick up three points and better position themselves in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying table. Canada is slated to face Costa Rica on Thursday, and if they don't earn three points, it would represent a key opportunity for both of these nations to close the gap atop the table.
With all that in mind, here's everything you need to know for Thursday's critical clash between Mexico and the USMNT.

The Americans will be without star defender Sergino Dest, who went down with a hamstring injury after the initial rosters were announced. Thus he will be sidelined, alongside Weston McKennie and Matt Turner, both of whom are also battling injury.
Meanwhile, Giovanni Reyna has returned to the squad after sustaining an injury in his most recent fixture with Borussia Dortmund, while Gregg Berhalter recalled Young Boys star Jordan Pefok to the team.
As for Mexico, Nestor Araujo was included in the squad selection, but is unlikely to feature for the team as he's still recovering from his own hamstring injury. Rogelio Funes Mori and Andres Guardado will also miss the clash due to injury.
