Roger Craig Smith, the man who has lent his voice to Sonic the Hedgehog, comes out of retirement.

It didn't take long before Smith returned after his announced retirement back in January. His career as Sonic‘s voice actor lasted for over 10 years, and his performance has made him beloved by fans. Although he didn't voice the Blue Hedgehog in the blockbuster film and its sequel, he's voiced Sonic in most if not all games since 2010.

The Sonic voice actor announced his return on Twitter earlier today. Smith used a picture of a broken heart mended by strings – a reference to his earlier tweet about his retirement months ago.

“I hope to honor your support and passion as I'm officially back voicing #SonicTheHedgehog in games,” Smith's tweet reads. “Can't wait for ya to see what we have planned!”

While we don't know yet what games Smith will be appearing in, we'll most likely find out immediately soon. The Sonic Central live stream tomorrow will go live at 9 AM PT, Thursday on the game's Youtube and Twitch channels. The live stream will kick off the celebrations for the character's 30th-anniversary. According to SEGA, the Sonic Central live stream will talk about upcoming projects, partnerships, and events. Sonic fans shouldn't miss the opportunity to hear from the game's developers themselves on what they have in store for the character's 30th year. We sure do hope that follow-ups to Sonic Mania and other titles will be announced, on top of collaborations with other popular titles in recent years.
