San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray had one Father’s Day moment that he will not be forgetting anytime soon.

After years of having differences with his father, Murray decided to bury the hatchet with him on Saturday.

Murray took to Instagram to post an emotional video of him reuniting with his dad a day ahead of Father’s Day. The two hugged it out, as Murray noted that he aims to begin “fixing the problems” that he had with his dad over the years.

“We had our differences for almost 7-8 years and I just want a relationship with my dad before it’s too late and not have one of us living with regrets of not being a man and fixing the problems we had,” Murray wrote.

“I love you dad more than you will ever know and thank you for taking ownership on why you wasn’t there as much as I wanted you to be as a kid but what matters is focusing on what’s right and that’s fixing our son/father relationship right now.”

The one-time All-Star also went on to surprise his dad with a new truck for his birthday.

Murray's father later thanked his son on Twitter, where he lauded him for having “the biggest heart.”

Murray rose through the ranks at Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, Washington, where he was recruited by Pac-12 powerhouse schools such as USC and UCLA. In the end, he opted to take his talents to Washington, and he then went on to be a first-round selection in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Amid his rise to the NBA, Murray did not necessarily have a strong relationship with his father, as he touched on in his Instagram post. In an interview with Sports Illustrated last year, the Spurs guard opened up that his father was not around all the time for him. While he did not view his dad as a “deadbeat,” he did note that his father was not a “full-time” parent for him.

This should be just the start of an unbreakable bond between Murray and his father.
